About

Who am I, and why am I writing this blog?

My name is Kate, and I’m the Digital Design Manager for a 140-person 3-office structural engineering firm. “Digital Design”, to us, is a hybrid of CAD/BIM Management and IT — making sure our workflows are as efficient as possible.

I’ve been using AutoCAD/AutoCAD LT since 1999, and Revit since (technically) 2007…although there was a pretty long hiatus in there from production work, so I’m re-learning a lot of things I’ve forgotten in the last few years, plus adding on everything I missed.

I’m a licensed professional engineer in Maryland, and part of the reason I do what I do is that I speak both CAD/BIM and Engineering. (I swear, they really are like foreign languages sometimes.)

If you want to respond something I’ve posted here, or offer suggestions of your own, you can reach me through the comment form or on Twitter at @katemorrical.

Thanks for reading!
